Front Street construction work under way

The City of Ketchikan announced Tuesday morning that Alaska Department of Transportation crews are replacing a casting on Front Street near the south end of the downtown tunnel.
Travel lanes have been narrowed for the work, and flaggers are present. Drivers are asked to use caution in the area.
DOT officials have proposed widening sidewalks by seven feet on much of Front Street, to accommodate pedestrian traffic. That would mean the removal of the center southbound lane on Front Street. more
