Jackson Street closed tonight for trick-or-treating

Today is Halloween, and as is traditional in Ketchikan, Jackson Street will be closed to traffic between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., to allow safe trick-or-treating.
According to the borough’s Transit Department, the Green Line bus will use an alternative route during that time, taking Baranof Avenue to Jackson Street to 4th Avenue, using a temporary bus stop at 4th and Jefferson. After 8:30, the bus will resume its normal route.
The Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly will consider introduction of two big-money items during Monday’s regular meeting. more
Seventeen students will participate in Saturday’s ceremony, and 34 graduates will be recognized. The commencement speaker will be Biz Robbins, who has retired after 19 years as a UAS adjunct and tutor. more
