Water main break means no water in Carlanna area

A water main break in the Denali Avenue/ Buren Road area means some residents in those neighborhoods will be without water for up to eight hours.

According to a 2 p.m. flash alert email from Ketchikan Public Utilities, KPU Water Division crews have closed main-line water valves in order to isolate the leak and begin repairs. KPU water customers on Denali Avenue, Bailey Boulevard, Buren Road and the adjacent mobile home park likely will be affected.

Depending upon the extent of the repairs needed, water service could be off in certain areas for six to eight hours. That means water could be off for those residents until around 10 p.m.
