Man arrested as fugitive on warrant from Virginia

Alaska State Troopers arrested a 43-year-old Ketchikan man Saturday night on a warrant out of Virginia.
Christopher Weberg faces 53 charges of alleged first-degree possession of obscene material. According to troopers, he was arrested at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday on the extraditable warrant. He was taken to Ketchikan Correctional Center, where he was held without bail.
Lybrand, a World War II veteran, founded Southeast Engineering in Ketchikan in 1982. He first entered local politics in 1987, when he won a seat on the Ketchikan City Council. He served four years on that body, as well as a couple terms on the Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly. more
Twenty-one Ketchikan residents are running for local office in the borough and City of Ketchikan. Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at seven precincts across the island. more
