After years of dreaming, planning and preparation, Community Connections’ new 20,000 square-foot, $5.2 million facility on Stedman Street was officially dedicated. More than 200 people attended Friday afternoon’s celebration under sunny skies. Following is an audio postcard which begins with Bess Clark, Community Connection’s Executive Director.
The ceremony ended with a flash mob dancing to Kool and the Gang’s “Celebration.” People were then invited to tour the facility. Art work was also available for purchase to help raise more funds for the organization.
Also speaking at Friday afternoon’s celebration were Community Connections Board President Erin Reeve, William Streur, Commissioner of Alaska Health and Social Services, and Randy Ruaro, Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Sean Parnell.
Community Connections has four programs – an early learning program, children’s mental health services, services for those with developmental disabilities, and resources for older Alaskan’s and adults.
