Local entries sought for Southeast Alaska State Fair

Ketchikan residents who are interested in submitting entries for the annual Southeast Alaska State Fair in Haines can do so for free again this year.

Exhibit categories include beer and wine, preserved foods, various fiber arts, fine arts, photography and writing.

Any entries that win certain prize levels at the Southeast Alaska State Fair can be shipped, also for free, directly from Haines to the Alaska State Fair in Palmer for further competition. Entries will be returned.

The deadline for fair entries is noon on July 8, and they can be dropped off at the Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council on Main Street.

The Southeast Alaska State Fair is July 25 through the 28. The state fair in Palmer is Aug. 22 through Sept. 2.
