UAS Ketchikan Honor List students announced

The University of Alaska Southeast has announced UAS Ketchikan students who have made the Chancellor’s and Dean’s lists for the Spring 2013 semester.

The Chancellor’s Honor List recognizes students who earned a 4.0 grade point average and completed at least 12 credit hours during the semester. Those students are Katie Baird, Larissa Otness, Kalah Stevens, Tori Stewart, and Teresa Varnell.

Nineteen other students made the Dean’s Honor List. That list includes students who earned a 3.5 to 3.9 grade point average, and completed at least 12 credit hours during the semester.

The 2013 spring semester Deans List students are Starla Agoney, Tuffina Arnold, Maren Chaffee, Javan Cook, Yasmine Davis, Makenzie Demmert, Amanda Dixon, Stella Estrada, Brenden Farr, Krystalee Gabbard, Edith Grover, Brenda Leask, Alexis McColley-Edwardson, Jessica Palma, Lee Perez, Laura Steward, Mai Strauss, Luana Wellons and Samantha Wilson .

Free class addresses chronic disease

PeaceHealth wants to reduce hospital readmissions in Ketchikan, and a $3.1 million grant from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services has funded several steps toward the goal, including hiring a five-person, full-time outpatient team. The latest program is Living Well Alaska, a course for people with chronic diseases. more
