Here’s a quick update on the house fire Thursday. Alaska State Troopers have identified the woman in the downstairs apartment who died during the fire as Sue Willis, 77, who formerly lived in Washington state.
Next of kin were on scene.
We have a correction for the report we aired Thursday evening and Friday morning. The property is owned by Carl and Lisa Thompson, according to Ketchikan Gateway Borough assessment records, rather than by the Calvin family, as originally reported. The Calvins rented the upstairs portion of the home.
PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center is in the middle of contract negotiations with the Ketchikan chapter of the Alaska Nurses Association, and talks don’t seem to be going well. more
The U.S. Forest Service has scheduled three public meetings in Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan to update the public on the proposed Tongass Land and Resource Management Plan Amendment. more
