A local man faces felony credit card fraud charges and several misdemeanor theft charges this week in Ketchikan District Court.

Gary Ward, 54 years old, is charged with one count of obtaining a credit card by fraudulent means, a C felony; two counts of misdemeanor fraudulent use of an access device; and three counts of misdemeanor theft in the fourth degree.

According to charging documents, the victim reported charges on his lost debit card to police. Police say that Ward had used the victim’s debit card twice at the Sourdough Bar, charging more than $35 to the card. Ward also allegedly tried unsuccessfully to withdraw $140 at the Totem Bar. Police say Ward used his own signature in the transactions and later admitted to using the card at the Sourdough Bar.

Ward was arraigned in Ketchikan District Court today and released on his own recognizance. His next court appearance is Nov. 12.
