Two drivers were injured and flown to Seattle for treatment following an accident on Salt Road on Prince of Wales Island.

According to the online Alaska State Troopers dispatch, troopers responded to a report of the accident at about 10 p.m. Saturday at Mile 14 Salt Road.

Troopers report that a 23-year-old Klawock man had been northbound on the road when he crossed into the other lane and hit a southbound vehicle. Both drivers were injured, and neither had been wearing seatbelts, according to Troopers.

The drivers were taken to the SEARHC clinic on POW, and from there were medivaced to Seattle.

Troopers report that drugs and alcohol appear to be a factor in the accident.
