Choose Respect Events
Date: March, 28th 2013 8:00 am - 10:00 pm
Governor Parnell issued a challenge for Alaskans to stand up and speak out and “Choose Respect” as part of his statewide initiative to end the epidemic of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Events ranging from marches, rallies, candlelight vigils, and potlucks are planned in communities from Anaktuvik Pass to St. Paul, and from Eagle to Hooper Bay, and from Chignik Lake to Ketchikan, and many points in between. This is the fourth annual “Choose Respect” rally day. In 2010, 18 Alaska communities participated. In 2011, 64 Alaska communities participated, and in 2013 at least 100 Alaska communities will participate. Communities wishing to hold a “Choose Respect” event in 2013 can still do so and obtain more information at: http://chooserespect.alaska.gov
