Button robes are the most widely recognized ceremonial garments of the people of the Northwest Coast. Since the mid-18th Century, button robes have served to identify family lineages and document histories. In this class, students create a traditional-style robe with appliquéd designs, beadwork and buttons. Use your own crest, or create a non-crest design. Instructor Janice Jackson will guide you through all the steps in creating this traditional regalia piece.
