Last Monday was my first day as Interim GM at KRBD.

I was General Manager here in the 90’s and was part of the Board and Managers group that started CoastAlaska. I also worked here as Program Director, News Director, Morning Edition host, and a few other things.

I started when we used splicing blocks to cut tape for the news and our sole source for playing recorded music was turntables. Yes, I am a dinosaur but I love public radio and I am grateful to be a part of our amazing community station. I look forward to helping the Board of Directors work myself out of a job.

My first priority is to hire a News Director.  I know many of you depend on KRBD for local news and it’s a responsibility we take seriously.  It can take time to find the right person with the necessary qualifications. We appreciate your patience while we pursue hiring this essential position.

We also hope to add more volunteers to our roster (tell your friends). Volunteers are the lifeblood of all non-profits and we have a lot of opportunities both off and on air.

Consider this an invitation to contact me with your ideas and concerns either by email or in person at the station.
