Did you get an email from Robyn Anderson? She’s the very competent professional who usually sends bulk emails (among many other things). She’s great at her job. She didn’t send that email.

I just wanted to send a quick email and told her “Sure, I can do that”.

Like many things, it’s harder than it looks and I blew it. Here’s what you should have gotten:

KRBD Membership Letter
December 2023

Hello everybody! Thank you for being part of community radio. Your membership and continued support make it possible for KRBD staff and volunteers to provide news, music, and information on which we have come to rely.

Two terrific people have joined the KRBD staff since our last newsletter. In early October, longtime Ketchikan resident Mike Gates began as Operations and Development Specialist, the Swiss Army Knife of jobs. He works with volunteers, assists Maria in program and operations, and is finding new ways to build revenue.

Reporter Jack Darrell joined the station in mid-October. Jack is an amazing asset to the station. He is a serious, exacting reporter who has approached his job with boundless curiosity, ideas, and energy.

We have an exceptional applicant for News Director – a hire that has long been our goal. Several more well qualified reporters are considering applying.

Imagine what we can accomplish with two full time news professionals?

We will have a mini membership drive next Thursday and Friday, December 14 and 15 to focus on raising money for our news department. We have an opportunity from INN, the Institute for Non-Profit News, to add bonus money to what we raise from matching donations for news between now and the end of the year.

KRBD is in an exciting rebuilding phase. More local news, more local support, greater outreach to better serve our listening communities. Please donate to help us reach these goals.

We wish you all Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a joyful season celebrating life this winter.
