Andrew Hanson, 40, was sentenced on Friday to 25 years in prison for intending to sell a large amount of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

In March, a jury found Hanson guilty of three drug-related charges and one weapons-related charge: one count of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second degree for possessing fentanyl pills with the intent to deliver; one count of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second degree for possessing fentanyl powder with the intent to deliver; one count of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the third degree for possessing methamphetamine with the intent to deliver; and one count of misconduct involving weapons in the third degree for being a felon in possession of a concealable firearm.

In January of 2024, the state charged Hanson with possessing about 10,000 fentanyl pills, over 250 grams of methamphetamine, and 34 grams of fentanyl powder.

Ketchikan Superior Court Judge Daniel Doty sentenced Hanson to 25 years with five years suspended and seven years of supervised probation following release from custody. The judge considered aggravating factors, including Hanson having five or more prior convictions.
