A man was found dead in Ketchikan’s Bar Harbor North this morning, across from the hospital. That’s according to Ketchikan Police Deputy Chief Derek McGarrigan. McGarrigan says the man’s family member called the police early Thursday evening when he was not found at his boat and was believed to have fallen off the dock. Police have not yet released his name out of respect for the family.
The police department requested the help of the fire department and the U.S. Coast Guard Thursday night in the search and rescue. After a few hours of searching, McGarrigan says it was too dark and windy to continue through the night – wind gusts approached 60 miles per hour.
The search resumed Friday morning and the body was recovered around 10:20 a.m.
KRBD expects this to be a developing story.
