Editor’s Note: Community members pointed out there are multiple people named Gary Anderson who live in Ketchikan. The person this article is referring to is 33 years old and is in custody at the Ketchikan Correctional Center.

A Ketchikan man was indicted by a grand jury last Thursday with nine counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor, and two counts of Indecent Exposure.

Alaska State Troopers subsequently arrested 33-year-old Gary Anderson on Friday for sexually abusing multiple children between 2012 and 2019. A No Bail arrest warrant was issued and Anderson was taken to Ketchikan Correctional Center.

Austin McDaniel with the Alaska State Troopers says the investigation began in January of 2024. Since then, they found numerous individuals who Anderson allegedly assaulted.

“We’ve had multiple troopers working on this investigation in order to bring justice to the juvenile victims,” McDaniel said.

Anderson faces eight counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Second Degree, one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the Third Degree, and two counts of Indecent Exposure in the First Degree. Two minors were listed as witnesses in the Indecent Exposure charges.

Out of the nine counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor, seven of those were of sexual contact with a child under the age of 13. The other two charges of sexual abuse of a minor are of a person who was 13, 14, or 15 years old at the time of the assault, and at least four years younger than Anderson.

McDaniel, with the Alaska State Troopers, said if anyone has any additional information about Anderson’s conduct, he urges them to call the Alaska State Troopers in Ketchikan.

Anderson does not yet have an attorney publicly listed. He is currently still in custody and has been offered a $250,000 cash performance bond.
