A Craig man was injured and died after Alaska State Troopers say he performed maintenance on a semi-truck. The maintenance is believed to have been related to the cold weather.
Troopers responded to the reported accident at a fuel station in Klawock, on Prince of Wales Island, early Wednesday morning. They say that first responders found 47-year-old Michael Stewart deceased at the scene. Troopers do not suspect foul play or criminal activity.
Stewart’s body is being sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy.
Correction: a previous version of this story inaccurately stated that Stewart was a resident of Ketchikan. He was a resident of Craig.
