A Ketchikan man is being charged with reckless endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident after an alleged hit-and-run with a tour bus Aug. 8.

Cameron Lacey, 37, was driving a dump truck on North Tongass Highway when he rear ended a double-decker bus and fled the scene, according to court documents. One passenger reported a neck injury, but declined medical attention. The officer on scene said they observed fluid leaking out of the bottom of the bus and damage on the driver’s side.

Lacey reportedly told a Ketchikan Police Officer when visiting his house later that day that his sister-in-law was in the truck with him during the accident. He said his wife took her to the emergency room.

Lacey is being charged with Failure to Remain at the Scene of an Accident and failing to render assistance to the injured, which is a Class A Felony. He is also being charged with Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, and No Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance.

Lacey’s attorney could not be immediately reached for comment.
