Jurors convict in 30-year Ketchikan cold case

Following an emotional 6-day trial, a Ketchikan Superior Court closed the book on a 30-year cold case that had haunted the city. Michael J. Williams of Saxman was found guilty of first-degree sexual assault and second-degree sexual abuse of a minor. He faces a sentence of up to 30 years in prison.

What 2023 Ketchikan weather could mean for the future, according to Alaska climate specialist

2023 was the sixth wettest year on record in Ketchikan. The First City was drenched in over 176 inches of rain last year. It was also a year for above average temperatures and rainfall across the Alaska Panhandle. Ketchikan school district loses two beloved educators

Ketchikan elementary schools resumed classes this week after losing two staff members over winter break. A kindergarten teacher at Point Higgins Elementary School and a paraeducator at Houghtaling Elementary passed away in separate occurrences in the last few weeks.
