State reclassifies 142 students, $116K decrease

At the end of December, the state Department of Education and Early Development sent notice to the Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District that it was challenging the status of 142 full-time students, resulting in a potential $116,000 loss in funding.

School Board and Borough Assembly meet

On Saturday, the Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly and School Board held a joint policy work session. It was their first direct meeting since February of 2012. The groups agreed to meet directly to discuss issues that caused friction in the past.
