Schoenbar Middle School and Ketchikan-Kanayama exchange program students Hunter Hull and Holly Jayne Patotzka will head to Kanyama, Japan this spring. The students, alongside program president Ashley Gunn, dropped by KRBD to highlight fundraising opportunities ahead of their international trip.

Exchange students from Kanayama, Japan will visit Ketchikan later this month.

The Ketchikan Gateway Borough, City of Ketchikan and City of Saxman will transition its emergency alert software from Nixle to Everbridge on Jan. 30. Ketchikan Gateway Borough Clerk Kacie Paxton spoke about the new software and how it will deliver faster, more reliable emergency alert notifications to residents.

Residents are encouraged to sign up for the new software by clicking here. Anyone wishing to continue receiving community alerts must register for an Everbridge account.
