Local government meetings are accessible via livestream and/or on cable public access television. Most are accepting public comment via email, and some have the capacity for people to call in with comments. Check with the various government websites for more information. While The Plaza is closed, Ketchikan Public Utilities has installed a drop-box for customers to submit utility payments. When entering The Plaza from the Northern entrance, you will see the drop box directly across from the Wells Fargo ATM.

The AMHS M/V Lituya’s schedule is changed through April 30. The Lituya will overnight in Ketchikan during this time. Each Thursday through Monday Lituya will follow the schedule posted below. The vessel will not operate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. www.FerryAlaska.com

According to the InterIsland Ferry Authority, the ferry between POW and Ketchikan has reduced service to four days a week. The ferry will sail Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday until further notice. It will depart at the usual times; leaving Hollis at 8 a.m. and departing Ketchikan at 3:30 p.m..
The IFA is adhering to the 6-foot social distancing recommendation by capping passenger capacity at 40, sailing at 25-percent normal capacity. That means passenger space is limited, and passengers are asked to make reservations in advance and arrive early to ensure your space and for additional check-in measures. Crews and Terminal Agents are using proven sanitation measures recommended by the CDC to slow the spread of the virus. Passengers are asked to follow crew and agent directions. IFA terminals will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday but agents are available by phone at 866-308-4848 seven days a week. Galley service on board is limited and may be closed completely in the near future.

Wells Fargo has temporarily closed the downtown Ketchikan branch. Its branch at The Plaza mall will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday; and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The Craig branch hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday-Friday. https://www.wellsfargo.com/jump/enterprise/coronavirus-response
Key Bank is open normal hours, but in-person lobby services are by-appointment only. Drive through services are open.

First Bank has closed all branch lobbies. Drive-through and ATM service us available, as well as online and mobile banking. Phone service is available to open an account, inquire about a loan or make an appointment to access a safe deposit box.

Activities and entertainment

Online Art Exhibit Opening Reception: The Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council’s Main Street Gallery April exhibit, “exhale. click. release. meditations with camera” by Brooke Ratzat will open April 3rd, in a special online virtual experience. The video will go live on the Arts Council’s Facebook page at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 3rd. In addition, you will be able to view Brooke’s exhibit video, images, and purchase her artwork on the Arts Council website beginning at 5:00pm on the 3rd, through April 24th. https://www.ketchikanarts.org/
Storytime: Ketchikan Public Library is offering Storytime every Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11 a.m. through a Facebook Live video. See the library’s Facebook page for more details.
