Forest Supervisor Forrest Cole plans to retire in April after about a dozen years in the job. Cole’s deputy, Tricia O’Connor, is leaving to become the supervisor of the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming.

The Forest Service is setting up an advisory board to help rewrite the Tongass National Forest’s management plan. It’s somewhat similar to another panel that shut down last year without completing its work.
