“I think peace, especially in this community, is when we come out, and we just help each other, and we realize that we’re not so different as human beings,” said Kayhi senior Cade McAllister, who helped organize the event. “I think it’s especially important at this time in our country’s history that we realize just how close together we really are.”

English teacher Sarah Campbell was Alaska’s recipient of the Sanford Teacher Award from the National University System. She spoke with KRBD’s Eric Stone, and started by talking about a passion project that’s grown into a school-wide program at the school known to locals as Kayhi.
