A 58-year-old man was hit by a car early this morning on Stedman Street near Tatsuda’s IGA.

Police say a driver in a Chevy pickup truck hit the man at approximately 6:53 a.m. The man was transported to Ketchikan General Hospital. Police say they do not know his current condition but that he was “alert and conscious” when taken to the hospital.

Police say the man was apparently crossing the street from the Tatsuda’s side to the water side, and the vehicle was driving into town.

The crash caused about a half-hour delay in traffic on the highway.
