A Ketchikan team will compete in this year’s Race to Alaska. The 750-mile event for human and wind-powered watercraft starts in Port Townsend, Wash., and ends in Ketchikan. KRBD’s Maria Dudzak spoke with members of Team Ketchikan: Skipper Charlie Starr, crew members Mike Firari and Tom Logan, and shore boss Jim Dahl.

Anyone interested in providing housing for the race participants as they arrive in Ketchikan can contact Jim Dahl at 247-2182. A kick-off party for Team Ketchikan is set for 6 p.m. Friday, June 17, at the Ketchikan Yacht Club in Thomas Basin.
