A 74-year-old Thorne Bay man faces assault and weapons charges after allegedly shooting a gun inside a residence Sunday evening.

According to the Alaska State Troopers online dispatch report, Troopers got a call at about 9 p.m. Sunday reporting gunshots inside a Thorne Bay home.

Troopers say Mike Steele assaulted two household members and shot a gun in the house.  On Monday morning, Steele was arrested and transported to Craig Police Department.  He is charged with two counts of third-degree assault, one count of fourth-degree assault, and one count of fourth-degree weapons misconduct.

Steele’s first hearing in the case was Monday in the Prince of Wales courthouse.

According to Troopers, no one was physically harmed during the incident. Alcohol was a factor.
