A second candidate for Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly filed paperwork on Thursday morning.

Austin Otos is a Ketchikan High School graduate. In a statement he wrote on Sitnews, he focuses on education, housing opportunities and economic development.

Otos joins former Borough Manager Dan Bockhorst on the assembly ballot. There are two open seats for the assembly, now held by Felix Wong and Stephen Bradford.

So far, nobody has filed for Ketchikan School Board. There are three open seats on that body, now held by Alma Parker, Lana Boler and Matt Eisenhower.

On the City Council, there are two open seats, currently held by Janalee Gage and Bob Sivertsen. Gage has filed for re-election.

Sivertsen has filed to run for city mayor, which also is open this year. Incumbent Mayor Lew Williams III has said he will not seek re-election.

The filing period ends at noon on Aug. 27th. The municipal election is Oct. 2nd.
