Two people were rushed to Ketchikan’s hospital after a car crash on North Tongass Highway on Tuesday. The incident briefly closed the road connecting downtown Ketchikan with the north end of the island.

One vehicle was pulling out of a car wash when it collided with another motorist, according to the Ketchikan Fire Department. The department did not release the names of those sent to the hospital, so an update on their condition was not available.

One was transported by ambulance, the other by private vehicle, according to the fire department.
