You likely heard Jack Darrell on Alaska News Nightly this summer reporting from KDLG in Dillingham about their fishery and on the Bristol Bay Fisheries Report, a regional daily show for the thousands of commercial fishermen who fish the Bay. He is passionate about local stories that connect communities and explore the intersections of class, culture, and natural resources.

Jack graduated from St. Mary’s College with a degree in English and Environmental Science and has worked as a farmhand in northern New Mexico and with the SlackWater Center, a regional oral history project.

He has also reported for The Atlantic, Earth Island Journal, and Hakai Magazine.

Jack describes himself as “passionate about music, photography, fisheries, and cooking (poorly)”

He will join us October 13.
