Michael Fanelli join the KRBD staff February 8. He’s headed south to the rainy part of Alaska.

Michael comes to us from Anchorage, where you may have heard him hosting the statewide morning news for Alaska Public Media. He also reported a wide variety of stories within the economics beat, covering topics ranging from glacier tourism to king crab pop-up sales.

He got his start in public radio at LA station KCRW, where Michael worked for five years before packing up his car and heading north to Alaska. In his free time, he enjoys getting outside and exploring all that Alaska has to offer. Michael’s looking forward to the warmer temperatures and ready to trade the mountains of snow for a little more rain. He loves being by the water, and is excited to explore the islands of Southeast Alaska.

Eager to dedicate more energy to in-depth reporting and directing KRBD’s news coverage, Michael can’t wait to get to know the  community of Ketchikan.
