A Ketchikan man is dead after a vehicle accident on Saturday, February 1 at Knudson Cove Road.
According to Alaska State Troopers, 80-year-old Darrell Vandergriff was unloading an excavator from a trailer, when the truck and trailer rolled down a driveway, over the embankment and into the water. The truck and trailer were mostly submerged when troopers arrived.
Troopers and medics were able to remove Vandergriff from the excavator. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
Next of kin have been notified.
