The Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly meets in regular session on Monday – the last Assembly meeting of 2015.

On the agenda are numerous public hearings, including several related to ordinances establishing local regulations for commercial marijuana. Assembly members voted unanimously on Dec. 7th to introduce those ordinances.

If adopted, they would establish zones for different kinds of marijuana businesses, and buffers to restrict marijuana businesses around schools, residential neighborhoods and other areas. They also would establish a local review process for state-issued marijuana license applications.

Monday’s Assembly meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in Borough Assembly chambers at the White Cliff building. Public comment will be heard at the start of the meeting.
