The Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly has a light agenda for its regular meeting on Monday.

Early in the meeting, Mayor David Landis is scheduled to proclaim Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Ketchikan. That federal holiday is on Monday.

The Assembly also will consider a citizen request that the borough adopt the International Fire Code of 2012 for the North and South Tongass fire departments.

According to the agenda statement, adopting that fire code would cost the residents of those service areas nearly $700,000 a year.

Monday’s meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in Borough Assembly chambers, with time for public comment at the beginning of the meeting.
