A 26-year-old Ketchikan man has been charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor for the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl.

Sage Ariel Orion Cline was arrested Sunday and had his first court appearance on Monday. He remains in custody on $200,000 bail.

According to the complaint filed in court by Ketchikan Police Detective Ryan Pritz, the girl told police she had been asleep on the couch in the main living area of a Ketchikan residence. She told police that she woke up finding Cline on top of her.

The girl’s description of what followed included penetration, according to the complaint. That fits the definition of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor, an unclassified felony.

According to the complaint, Cline admitted to the allegations. Police say he also acknowledged that he knew the girl attends a local elementary school.

In Monday’s hearing, the court assigned the state Public Defender Agency to represent Cline. His next scheduled hearing is 3 p.m. Nov. 22 in Ketchikan District Court.
