The Southeast Alaska Discovery Center’s popular Friday Night Insight program kicks off Jan. 4th with a presentation about touring the Yukon’s Golden Circle by bicycle.

Tom Huette will share stories and photos from his experiences cycling through the Canadian territory.

Events are planned at the downtown Ketchikan center each Friday through April. They include a Jan. 18th presentation by Ray Troll and Tom Fowler about a trip to Australia; a Feb. 22nd event featuring KIC Tribal Scholars students talking about an expedition to Cholmondeley Sound; a presentation by Shawn McAllister on March 15th about climbing the Devil’s Thumb, a mountain near Petersburg; and the opening of the Alaska Hummingbird Festival juried art show on April 5th.

There are a couple of Saturday events on the schedule: A matinee sing-a-long to the Sound of Music on Feb. 8th; and a celebration of Elizabeth Peratrovich Day on Feb. 16th.
