Ketchikan’s first baby of 2019 arrived just after 9 p.m. on Jan. 2nd.

According to PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center, Zoey Pandile was born at 9:12 p.m. Wednesday. She weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

Zoey was welcomed by parents Ailene Buendia and Virgil Pandile, and her sister, Chloe.

The first baby of the year traditionally receives a basket of gifts. For the second year in a row, Ketchikan Police Sgt. Bob Cheatam donated a wooden cradle, which was used as the “basket.”

The cradle was filled with baby items donated by Ketchikan Medical Center caregivers.
