Thorne Bay, a community of about 500 people on the eastern side of Prince of Wales Island, will soon be down a city councilmember. Councilmember Trevor Killian, who was elected to a three-year term on the council in 2024, recently notified the city clerk of his intent to resign.

Killian or Thorne Bay’s city clerk did not immediately return a request for comment.

Killian’s departure comes months after former Thorne Bay mayor Shane Nyquest resigned from his seat, following a recall petition against him. Nyquest now serves on the city council.

Thorne Bay’s city council is expected to accept Killian’s resignation tonight.
