Island Electric will be upgrading traffic signals in Ketchikan Monday through Thursday, starting at 7 p.m each evening.

The Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly will take another look Monday at the prioritized community capital project request list, which was rejected by the Ketchikan City Council.

Following long discussions on both issues, the Ketchikan School Board on Wednesday agreed to hire a new teacher at Revilla Alternative School, but voted against hiring new paraprofessionals to help run district preschools, which have quite a few students on wait lists this year.

One person sustained a minor injury caused by a fire late Thursday night at the Marine View condominium building on Tongass Avenue.
