Salmon labels tell history

History can come in all shapes and sizes. UW PhD student Ross Coen was in Ketchikan to give a presentation on the history of the canned salmon industry in Alaska, and to research a subject he’s passionate about, salmon can labels.

Ketchikan Chamber hires new director

Julie Isom has been named the new executive director of the Greater Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce. Isom accepted the position on Tuesday and will replace outgoing director Chelsea Goucher.

Council to vote on retail pot sales

On Monday night, the Ketchikan City Council decided to vote on the sale of retail marijuana at its next meeting. The Council made this decision after hearing a presentation by Chris French, the Borough Planning and Community Development Director.
