The city of Klawock announced Wednesday afternoon on social media that the procession had been canceled.

Alaska State Troopers and Craig Police Department officers will be escorting the family of the late Klawock police chief Terry Stonecipher from the Inter-Island Ferry terminal in Hollis home to Klawock as they bring his remains back from the state medical examiner’s office.

The City of Klawock announced the procession on social media early Wednesday afternoon. 

The procession is expected to pass through Klawock around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

“Thank you to everyone who pulls over or flashes their light tonight as they come in,” the city posted on social media.

Stonecipher is the former chief of the Klawock Police Department. He died on January 9. He was 60.

Alaska State Troopers are answering 911 calls in Klawock, and Craig Police Department officers are patrolling the community when they are able.
