Council OKs coliform study, talks filtration

The Ketchikan City Council on Thursday approved a $31,000 contract with consulting firm CH2MHill to continue studying the coliform problem at Ketchikan Lakes, the city’s source of tap water. But, one Council member asked management to also compile information about what it would take to get a filtration plant.

SEAPA testing leads to brief power outage

An engineer working for SEAPA was conducting some tests at the dam related to a new computer operating system. The engineer accidentally tripped the machine, and that knocked out power to pretty much the entire KPU system, starting at about 11 a.m.
