Assembly to consider a grant for Whitman dam

The Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly agreed in principle Monday to help the City of Ketchikan with expenses for the long-planned Whitman Lake Hydroelectric Project.

USCG rescues 2 men, dog during Sunday storm

Two men and their dog were rescued Sunday in Gem Cove, about 23 miles east of Ketchikan. According to U.S. Coast Guard spokeswoman, Petty Officer Sara Francis, the men reported that their joined vessels had hit some rocks and were taking on water.

Ketchikan man charged for heroin package

A 21-year-old Ketchikan man was arrested Saturday and charged with possession of heroin with the intent to distribute.
